Jennifer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today...

About seven years ago, Jennifer Counter was a single mom looking to supplement her teacher salary.

​

Today, the Katy-area business woman runs Counter’s Tutoring Connection full time with about 100 students, 37 tutors and a business manager, she said.

​

Teachers aren’t generally known as risk-takers. They follow a strict school schedule every day, every year, and love when they know their content well enough to hit a comfortable stride.

Jennifer Counter was there. She had taught for 10 years and loved her students and teaching in general.

Hi Jennifer, how do you think about risk?
I think that all great success involves risk. There is that moment where you have to decide to do it afraid.

Jennifer, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?

​

I started Jennifer Counter Consulting because I wanted to help other entrepreneurs create, launch, and grow their businesses.
